About the Moravian Church in Western Tanzania
The Moravian Church in Western Tanzania (MCWT) is a vibrant Christian community rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It traces its origins to the late 19th century, when German missionaries first established mission stations in the western parts of Tanzania. From these humble beginnings, the Church has grown into a strong institution that continues to touch lives through faith, education, and community service.
The Church is guided by the message of hope and victory in Christ, symbolized in its motto “The Lamb Has Triumphed” (Mwana Kondoo Ameshinda). Through worship, music, and acts of compassion, MCWT seeks to transform lives and nurture disciples who live by the values of love, humility, and service.
Over the years, MCWT has established parishes, schools, health centers, and social projects that uplift communities both spiritually and socially. Its ministries focus on youth empowerment, women’s development, family support, education, and healthcare. The Church continues to play a vital role in promoting peace, unity, and holistic development across the western regions of Tanzania.
